Did you know that Guild membership gives you access to many Bursaries & Awards? Let’s take a look at three upcoming bursaries open to applications now, as well as some work from past winners.
The Founder Members Bursary is awarded to a member every two years, with applications being judged by two Founder Members. This bursary can help you to widen your knowledge of patchwork, quilting and appliqué, or help you in teaching others by covering the associated costs up to £500. Application submissions will be accepted up to 30th April 2021.
The BA Student Bursary is an annual award given to a final year BA graduate from a textiles related course to further their textile studies. A shortlist of five applicants will be invited to exhibit quilt-related work in the ‘Graduate Showcase’ at that year’s Festival of Quilts, with the winner being selected by a panel of judges. Should you win, this £1000 bursary can then be used to further your textile studies or work. Application submissions will be accepted up to 31st May 2021.

The City & Guilds Student Bursary is an annual bursary awarded to a student graduating from a City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate or Diploma Course centred on Patchwork & Quilting. Tutors are invited to nominate their students, with shortlisted candidates then invited to exhibit their work at that year’s Festival of Quilts, where a winner is chosen. Should you win, this £1000 bursary can then be used to further your textile studies, and one year’s membership to our Guild is included in the prize. Application submissions will be accepted up to 31st May 2021.

The three bursaries profiled above are just a small selection of the awards we offer to our members. For full details of the scope of our bursaries, visit the Bursaries & Awards section of our website.
