We are delighted to announce the launch of The Virtual Competition 2020, a brand-new initiative to replace the standard competition Upper Street Events usually host at the Festival of Quilts.
The show can’t go ahead this year, but they’re not going to let that get in the way!
There are 12 categories to choose from, just like the standard FoQ competition and thanks to their generous sponsors, one winner in each category will receive a prize of £500 PLUS one outstanding piece will be awarded the Handi Quilter Best in Competition prize of £1500!

Betty Busby won 1st place in the Art Quilts Category at The Festival of Quilts 2019 with her quilt Vertex. Betty used silk, hemp, non-wovens, machine stitching, and fusing to create this piece.
To enter the Virtual Competition you’ll need to upload images of your quilt on the entry form, and the judging panel will shortlist approximately 10 quilts per category to be showcased on the Festival of Quilts website and within a one-off special FoQ magazine.
There’s never been a better time to make a quilt, so have a read of the competition categories listed on their website and get quilting!
The entry form will be available by the end of April and the deadline is Friday 3 July.
