Join us as we explore the wonderful world of British quilting heritage through our exclusive series of patterns inspired by The Quilters’ Guild Museum Collection. Each pattern introduces a different skill or technique as a way to develop and broaden your quilting knowledge, whilst offering a chance to challenge yourself — without biting off more than you can chew.We invited Appliqué lover and expert, Jo Avery to take a piece from our Museum Collection that inspired her and to create a new pattern so that we can all enjoy a little bit of the heritage The Collection has to offer in our homes.

The Naïve Appliqué Top, 1830s-1840s, The Quilters’ Guild Museum Collection. Appliqué top with a central motif of a basket with long stemmed flowers and four corner triangular baskets with star arrangement of flowers. This central panel is surrounded by frames of cable stems with flowers and leaves. The frame sections are partitioned by zigzag/triangular pieces.
Jo designed this beautiful Basket of Blooms appliqué cushion based on the Naive Appliqué Top in the Quilters’ Guild Museum Collection.
“I love the idea of everyone stitching these while we sit at home waiting for this to pass, I know it will help everyone.”
