We are thrilled to have recently acquired the contemporary wholecloth quilt ‘Slip 1, Knit 1’, made by Sandie Lush for The Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles’ 7th National juried exhibition in 1999, which was held at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
The location, the theme ‘Under the Covers’ and Sandie’s love of knitting combined together to produce a realistic looking quilted cricket sweater, but one large enough to place on a single bed! This piece then became the first in a series of sweater quilts as Sandie continued to enjoy creating quilts that explored knitted designs and textures. Sandie’s work in wholecloth quilting is well known, beautiful, and skilfully executed, and we are so pleased that we now have a piece of her work represented in The Collection.
