A Day in the Life of the Festival of Quilts Officer

Standard

Hi.  I am Sheena and am half way through my term of office as Festival of Quilts Officer for The Guild.  This is a fab role – quiet for lots of the year, a flurry of activity in the months leading up to Festival, all out effort during Festival, and then a little flurry thereafter.

I have a background in many different areas including teaching but it is my background in admin with all of its associated  experience running and minuting meetings that comes in so useful for this role.

Right now, I can normally be found up to my elbows in excel spreadsheets trying to make sure that all the various Guild stands at Festival have enough volunteers – we want all our volunteers to have enough time to have a good look round the show as well as being able to share their experiences with visitors.  I am ably assisted by my two beautiful feline assistants who love sitting between me and my computer screen – making it extremely difficult to type accurately (well, that’s my excuse!).

I was asked if I could let you see some photos of me fulfilling my role, but somehow me up to my elbows in spreadsheets and word documents didn’t seem terribly interesting, so instead here is a photo montage of me doing something else I love – giving a talk to a quilt group.
